Shockingly, a webform that has to grind for an hour and forty-five minutes times out. As it is that is also my unused 'custom alert' page. I was on call this entire weekend in case two or three managers needed an alert to be sent out to the people contained in my table (the 1.75hr processing webform's table)... I received no phone call but lost sleep stressing over it.

I found out from the Bossman that this manager decided, in a panic, to use some obscure email list that was a third the size of my list instead of calling me (which was the plan) to submit/babysit the processing... and now I needed to get a copy of my list so certain people can be apologized to for not being emailed.

This smells like I am going to get a talking to since the nut of the issue is a webform.. *my* webform.. cannot process things for an hour and forty-five minutes without timing out.

*sigh*

I hope everyone would be grown up enough and I won't be honor slapped for this, but it is corporate America and previous jobs have had me favored poorly in similar situations.

Though the nifty multithreaded two part 'submit job / poll for jobs and process' app I will be writing today (to subsume the current setup) may be pretty nifty.

Step out the front door like a ghost; Into the fog where no one notices The contrast of white on white.

After a shitty day of chillis, a crashed database server (due to hard drives being filled up because someone didn't give share access to a folder on the last server upgrade), and my custom alert form taking seven seconds to process each nine hundred items thus timing out, a trip back to work because a power saving feature kicks my pc offline, a nap, and drinking... I am left with a sense of wonder and awe at the world.

Cara's last day came and went with a crazy Friday that tapered down to a trickle. Glimpets was there, as was Paul the Cook.. hilarity ensued and eventually everyone peeled off to go to bed. I am facing a six-thirty am call time (less than three hours away), but distraught one of my tribe is moving on.

Let's not think this is purely sad thing - more like bitter sweet. Another person I am emotionally invested in leaves the reservation for fame and riches. One would think I would build a callous to these events, but no.

Either way - the last song - BoysIIMen - "It's So hard to Say Goodbye" with Scoot and Cara doing a nice couples slow dance in a darkened bar with only the glare of GoldenTee and the jukebox to be their light.

Hopefully she finds her niche and strikes it rich out in the south Floridian area. All I can think about is the years of hanging out and learning about her world and her aspirations... trying to more programmatic and objective way to cut her into her desired field... success and riches.

Either way - another alumni out the door and the tribe fractures. Hopefully she finds what she is looking for, does it with class, keeps above the cess, and eventually swings by.

Time to refocus on those who have come back in to town and intrude on their lives if only to make my life a bit more warm.

Fucking mornings.

And I'll take with me the memories
To be my sunshine after the rain
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.

Why the hell are all of the cool toys potentially f'n toxic?

Build Your Own Laser Cutter. Suuuuuuure.. for a mere fifteen-hundred bones and I get the parts for a mother-f'n LASER CUTTER! ARGAAGG!!

Cutting, etching, and general laser-ie goodness.

You know - it might not be a bad thing I am hampered by living in an apartment. The last few project seedlings have a common factor of:
- building
- noise
- potentially toxic fumes
- potentially burnable

Lord knows if I had a house there would be a pile of awesome machines in a basement with 4" silver flexible tubes going to vent ports in basement windows.

Let's hope I would not pass out from a malfunction venting system.

Yeah, Cara's last Saturday. Sad event. Only a Monday, Wednesday, and a Friday left before she's off again into that big-girl world.

2012.10.18 (16:36): Odd purchase - grab your irons...

It seems that I will be buying my first iron (for actual, real, honest to god ironing) - but not ironing board - tonight.

It just seems so... peculiar.. that I have lived this long sans one but now I need one. Damn complexities of life! I swear it may be months or years before I use it again.

Now that I think about it - I could use it on 'fancy pants' days at work when clients show up.. versus having moderately wrinkled khakis..

One small step for growing up... one giant leap for.. er.. who knows.

Yeah.. derp to me on not looking at the time when I traipsed off to the gym. Shit I got out of there about five after midnight.

As it was - even with my distracted dawdling - probably the most successful, and by extension the least self loathing, evening. Up to four sets of eight with 50lbs on the parallel shoulder press, 120lb on the up right row.. four or five sets of eight on at 290 on the cable row.. 48lb (or #18) on the cable twist.. four sets of fifteen on the sled press (still the same five plates a side).. four sets of fifteen at 300lb on the calf raises and.. ding-ding-ding.. my cardio is more than half jog for a mile and no wheezing/gasping for air.. at this rate, if I keep up my jogging, and might go back to the mile and a half.

2012.10.10 (01:24): Well.. that was odd.

What an odd night. Of all the horrible possibilities running through my head this was the least horrible and least expected. The horror stories of crashing on a drunk/stoner's couch.. the level one or two attempted psychological abuse... the out-and-out lies of the promised residence/situation... and the inevitable return back home to the re-realization that someone needs to live for them and not chase boys.... all intertwined with music and adult beverages.

*le sigh*

Something's a foot and I am not sure what it is. It seems.. SEEMs.. that my planned evening of quietly lounging on my bear skin rug in front of my fireplace to do some reading and thinking has been chucked out the wind'der with the swipe of 140 characters.

Amazing.

In other news I also hoped work's twitter account would use the meme of " we are in you".... but I guess not.

It might just be government instilled paranoia but I am doing the yearly flu shot thing today. Hopefully it doesn't kill me (though that seems like a yearly risk).

A little disappointed the Stratos Jump hasn't happened yet.. I'll be pissed if I missed it.

In other news A Pimp Named C-Mack is heading back to Florida with an actual modeling contract in November. Tears will roll. This time the contract thingy has her agent also actively sending her out to calls and such. Less vacation. You hear my Lawyer?!

2012.10.05 (21:46): Grr.. stupid cold weather...

I shouldn't have to have all my motivation for the gym sucked out because we are hitting the cold season. Ugh. Stupid near freezing degrees..

2012.10.01 (01:22): Hard reset...

After a day in a haze I took a nap and got sort of back on track.. then I decided wings and a beer was a good idea at 8pm at the 'Box.. then a quick jaunt to the grocery store, the gym, and snuggle up to finish my book. Some how Yvette and the Sunday night crew made it 12am.. the grocery store at 12.30.. and now 1.30am for reading/bed.

I'll call Monday my hard reset day.

PS: I think the Fremonsters moved out from the 2nd story apartment.. their deck is suspiciously absent of chairs, couches, etc.
