Fedex decided to stop toying with me and got my parts delivered with enough time to get them installed (instead of waiting for another three days). w00t.

2010.03.29 (10:15): Damn you shipping!

I turned up at the automechanics today to get the EGR work done on Bubbi... oh noes.. only one of the three parts are in. Did I take a day off work for... nothing? Hopefully they will call me when they got all the parts at the dealer...

Yes.. yes I am. New weirdo guy has been here a week and a day. His first day he showed up in ratty jeans, a hoodie-shirt, and a pair of dirty sneakers. Okay. The next few days he cleaned up his dress code. Cool.

The first warning issue sounded a day into his working here when he was having a discussion with a secretary and dk regarding installing certain software that was outside his scope and responsibility (according to dk). So clearly n00b was asking for software that was a bit irregular.

The problem then migrated to the start of the week when I heard n00b asking one of our secretaries for blank cds.

Mkay.

Odd.

Then for the last few days prior to today I noticed n00b was burning MSDN isos to disks and copying down the product keys... ah.. what? Why would you back up the isos Microsoft stores for us on CDs? This can't be a good thing. It is very rare we would be burning things to a CD (when we can transfer them to the general server storage) or use a jump drive. I mean hell - I haven't burned a CD here... ever.

So being the curious bastard I am I sent an email out to the secretary next to the n00b and asked if this was legit. n00b was always a bit jumpy and what not when I walked by. It seems from said secretary he's been printing off quite a bit of paperwork and the secretary has "a bad feeling" about this guy.

Well in a brilliant expected/unexpected turn of events the secretary forwarded the email to her boss and mine. Doh.. I guess n00b is Jefe's pet and she sounded quite offended that we would question it. My guess is now I am no jefe's shit list.

I still don't trust him and I think he just got to work a few minutes ago.

2010.03.24 (15:17): Damn you EGR system!

Yeah.. parts will be in Friday.. the work Monday.. and it's to the tune of seven benjamins... though this should clear up a host of other minor issues winter has poxed Bubbie with. I really didnt need money anyways... So long tax refund I haven't gotten.. it was nice not knowing you this year either!

2010.03.24 (09:28): A day for a brisk walk..

The garage mechanics at work couldn't find an attachment to decypher Bubbi's 'check engine' code. *le sigh*. So off to the Jensen Auto by my joint. Sure.. it'll be forty-five bones to pull the code plus what to fix and any more diagnostic but it shall be dealt with. Let's hope the cost is low and the work is quality.

Twas a nice mile long walk back to my crib. Thankfully the rain didn't happen and I wasn't hit by any cars off Maple. Though I am low on provisions... two packs of Ramen and a can of soup. Shit... well JJ's delivers, right?

Dear god, my new team is remedial and is painful to be in. Please strike them down with some malady or a genetic mutation to amuse me. kthnxbi!

I am now straddling two teams.. my existing one and the new 'dev team' which will be run by Clompers. Our first, of many, "just-us" meetings was today. It was an overload of buddy-buddy chat... information humor like calling our team the "A-Team" and using the tv show's van as our logo... and one guy was sputtering, throwing out negative slams on everyone's projects, pretending to be a know it all... and generally acting like a 3rd grader... but Clompers let it roll.

God I feel like I was pulled out of a normal class and dropped into a remedial tracked class. Fuck this.

The best part was Mr.3rd-grader asked me as we left the meeting that I seemed pissed and not humored by his antics. Short of breaking his jaw with an upper cut I calmly brushed it off as having an over load of work to do with my current team and these sorts of meetings are a waste of my time.

Have some f'n decorum people. I get this is going to be the super-cool-relaxed-team-everyone-wants-to-join but damnit this is interfering with me actually getting work done... trying to push me into a role of actually caring about the schleps around me in this department... and being too cutesy/creepily-friendly. Not my style. I want out.

Oh and clompers wanted a time line of work from Sticks and I regarding the rest of CB. Really? Seriously?
A. That is not stick's job in any universe.
B. Why don't you ask the people that know - Mark and I?
C. Why did you specifically exclude jefe, dk, and mark?

Really? Tuesday I had issues logging into to production... I threw in a service ticket off our new service desk. No biggie. Then I got another guy to give me back access. Mkay.. then I noticed today that I didn't have access to time sheets, our benefits system, viewing paychecks, and what not. Panic set in.. What... the... fuck. A flurry of emails and it was determined Tuesday morning my PBS id was given to terminate another employee. I suspect bloopers was the one they were trying to remove.

So mild panic attack regarding paychecks, vacation, insurance, 401k, and the like go through my head. I think I got most of it taken care of... we shall see.

People will dislike you for chasing childish dreams. After your success people will dislike you because they are ordinary and you are not.

Two days of district meetings. Ugg... I gotta be down there at 8am... fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuudge..

On the bright side the employee night Thursday is a mock casino night at Western Heritage Museum... maybe I can win myself a wii or something fun. Friday night is a dinner at the zoo... mmmm... roasted o-rang...

This weekend was the lovely Nebraska Invite Tournament (NIT) for high school debate (and probably speechies but they don't count as people). I found the joint with five minutes to spare... and then proceeded to sit on my duff for two rounds (out of the four).

Mkay.

I got my reading done and started a new book. Not a terribly productive Saturday but some forward motion.

The first found I got to was a Millard South vs Millard West round.

Yesterday morning I noticed my front left tire was pretty damn flat.. I filled it up with air after mentoring and kept an eye on it. This morning it dropped from 40psi to 20. That's not good. So I skedaddled over to Jensen tire to have them take a look at it. Shame on me thinking this would be a short in and out process. Nope.. 8.15 to 11.30am.

Fucking other people with appointments and their car issues.

It turns out a pothole cracked the wall and thus required a new one. I also mentioned my backs were a bit low and the guy looked at me laughing and said "by low you mean damn near bald". Oh something like that. So there's going to be about four hundy. Yeppie.

Oh an unrelated note I think I worked myself into a mild panic attack yesterday after that stupid health screening. I was going the gym and felt like throwing up. About halfway through my routine I came to the conclusion that while the health screen was all doom and gloom it was just a snapshot of what's up. I had no particular expectations of passing with flying colors, but frankly if they would done this a year, three years, or five years ago it would have been worse. Progress has been made and odd metrics like using the same measurements from Gilligan's wedding four years later for my sisters help (that's where my pants had to come in greatly and my shoulders out about as much). I am getting there and I know I could do more here and there (Maybe I shouldn't drink so much... maybe I shouldn't *breathe* so much!).. but it's getting there.

Now back to the f'n grind at work.

2010.03.04 (16:53): F'n healthscreening..

Damn it all... Stupid health screening thing was annoying when it was happening, and I have done a good job of pushing it to the back part of my mind today.. but after a while it started eating at my fore thoughts and I found myself looking for cheapish in home treadmills or elliptical machines on craigslist.

Did I mention the nice lady informed me if I don't change my ways I will be dead by 39? Mountain Dew is the worsterest soda to drink.. and soda in general will cause pancreatic cancer? Yeah.. a totally upper.

Of course that lead me to people railing against said items.. then random surgeries and what not... and now a trainload of anger, annoyance, self loathing, and what ever other MTV-esque range of emotions are running around in my brain.

Cest la vie. I'll see what the "coaches" say.. and maybe rearrange my gym schedule...

I hate random frantic work phone calls that eat up two hours of my night.

I hate being in the right spot... twice... and having revelations being made on the second trip.

Seriously? Really? Part A: You have a freaking daughter. Don't label other women your daughter... I have some sort of moral code that requires me to balk at this comment and say "I know so and so's real daughter... well real not including that other family in the south east... you are not her.". It seems to cheapen the title.

Part B:... revelations that certain folk are drinking at my bar.. as day drinkers.. no one notifies me... and the reason said individual is is drinking at *my* bar is because they are hiding out from their usual haunt because the hubby was sleezing/sleeping with the liquor rep of the original joint... that could explain only two phone calls since before Thanksgiving of 2009. Grr.... FML.
