Yahoo just announced they are closing down geocities. I was shocked, appalled, and generally disgusted. I had a website with geocities all the way back from mid 1997. I didn't do much post 2001 with it but I kept it alive with enough changes in file content to stave off the "no updates in three years; update or be deleted".

I log into the old geocities account (thankfully a yahoo password I remember) and begin the hunt for the ftp log in. Wait! What? No ftp login because it's free?! What's this 4.5mb cap an hour? Damnit how the hell am I going to get my files off in a timely manner? No matter - I took an adobe plug in, reconfigured a few things, and proceeded to let it data rape the whole 20mbs in about three minutes. THe most annoying part was the inserted javascript from yahoo I had to remove off ten or twenty html pages. Arg.

Rummy reminded me of the old geocities address: athens/acropolis/4921

Damn it still works.

I will have to raise a toast to the old page. She did me well for a long time. Not to mention twelve years of existence taking up a meager portion of the internet.

RIP 4921, RIP.

I just found out geocities is closing down. Aw shit. I have a website I moderately maintained back in high school (1997 to be exact) that I need to backup and archive. Sad. The pictures were quite.. amusing.

I got a bit worn out on zombies and flipped to Team Fortress 2.. oh.. my.. god. Such organized chaos.... so many choices.. so many head shots! *boom!*

I have been drafted into a two hour presentation on Reporting Services. cool. My slides will rock the shit. Do not get me started on finding a freaking room in our two buildings. The "reserve via Outlook" only applies to other departments wanting to use our rooms.. no.. everyone else's conference rooms have to be reserved in person. Stupid.. stupid.. stupid.

On a side note I just broke news that DK is a lead to the team when running the standup meetin

2009.04.16 (20:43): Zombie panic!

I just found out the free-man's 'Left 4 Dead' is 'Zombie Panic'! I had to dredge up my old steam account, and started downloading it. Stellar.. stellar... stellar. Sadly I am at 96% damn if I will leave to go to the gym before I get a game in!

The scenario is simple - you join up a server and can volunteer to be zombie-0 or a survivor. When a zombie kills a player - bam that player is now a zombie. The game goes until the objective is met, the survivors are all day, or the zombies are all dead.

There are benefits and detractors for each. The game accounts for weight as the more weapons and armor you pick up slow you down. Zombies don't run as fast but respawn health.

Shit the game's done!

*braaaaaaaaaaaaaaains*

2009.04.09 (14:57): Crazy stories..

After two lengthly phone conversations with my sisters I have decided the tale they told was amazingly ridiculous. I could have made millions of a Lifetime Movie script - assuming I wrote down the specifics of each call.

It boils down to one sister bluntly putting things while the other takes offense it it all. They both need to chill the fuck out and life will continue.

Middle Sis (MS) is concerned about the actual content and if Youngest SIs (YS) gets the deeper long lasting values of what is being said. Also MS is trying to make sure YS looks her best for the wedding. YS takes this as some power grab move and all hell breaks loose.

Really? Ugh. I hope that YS's comment that this alleged 'gay kyle' will be a brides maid.

Yeppie - KBomb's invite to his wedding. Stellar.

2009.04.07 (23:30): Damn sister - what's her angle?

So the middle sister is acting up again. Her battle plan with my dad and his SO has gone well - she's acting normal and what not, but her new plan with the youngest sister (getting engaged, a new dog, and a place with her fiance) seems irrational.

Previous entry here
And here

The new angle of attack Lindsey is going for is she is holding her attendance at Ashley's wedding in question unless Ashley affirms her yet-to-be-had-children are raised catholic.

Ah what? When (and why) did this Aunt Connie/SuperNun paradigm shift occur? Granted Ashley's fiance is jewish, but they are getting married by a catholic priest (friend of the family) in a catholic church. Hmm.

Also why is Lindsey trying to bargain with Ashley's non existent children? Quite puzzling, and as the big brother I shall have to intercede on Ashley's behalf.

This is just patently absurd on too many levels to be legit. Are we being punked right now? Come on Ashton - come out so I can kick you in the nuts and make off with Miss Demi Moore. I'll show her a scarlet letter or two!

Suck it Trebeck

2009.04.02 (17:20): Realworld Brooklyn: Season Finale

I know I have been a bit lax on my Real World: Brooklyn (RW:B), but I was busy okay?

The ending was pretty much as awesome as I figured it would be. There were some pranks, some yelling, tears, hollow good byes, and one unexpected twist of integrity.

I shall deem this season "Bros before hoes".

2009.04.01 (16:12): Tuesday night recap..

As some of you may know, Hawaii was back in town last night. It was arranged by the eldest sister, Laura aka Ankh, and attended by a few folk. I knew most of them by sight, but the names were hazy.

The note worthy list was: Ankh, the rare and reclusive Steve (brother) aka Steve the Hedge, Audry aka Dance, Ankh's hubby, and *drum roll* Margie aka Island.

Follow the recap after the jump.
