I was off to Oakview mall to check in at BC Surf shop over on the bottom/dillards side. Nice joint but the aging skater there running the joint seemed a little put off that I came in wanting to know about "this longboarding stuff". Yes.. a longboard over a regular skateboard. I am not that stupid to think I am going to be doing sweet jumps.. I just want to cruise around on a 'sidewalk surfboard'.

I am very apprehensive about the flex these boards have.. I mean I am no Yasmine Bleeth so that's a factor. In an odd turn of events the guy advocated I go home and read up/watch videos to figure out what sort of riding I want to do... down hill speedsters... tricks... massive carving action.. etc.

To say the least I was thrown off by his approach. I mean I was pretty well set on getting something and to advocate not doing it yet was a peculiar business model. If he would have said "this board won't break under your fat ass and is a good all around board" I would have happily turned over my card and stocked up on a helmet, elbow and knee pads, and a universal skate tool. I have to say I am strangely desire to go back and demand he takes my irrationally spent money now to show him up.

Tonight I'll be off to Wake and Skate over off 168th and Center to see what's up there... it'll probably be more commercial and less authentic of an experience as BC Surf shop but I'll see.

I found flex 1 = good weight support... and saw a guy in Wyoming that made a near flex 0 custom board.. he didn't seem interesting in selling them. Lame.

In other news I wrote a bomb ass 'professional summary' and cover letter. The latter was finished about 1am and I'll see tonight if it was worth the salt. If so then it's off to applying for a new job.

Finally I took time to reflect that July 27th, 2007 about 12.10pm I was sitting in the corner of the cafeteria with the regular gang at work when I got that horrible call. As per every year since then - shit's on watch between July 27th and August 13th. The world sucks.
