Okay.. this is starting to freak me out a bit...

After switching to a more salad centric lunch (by that I mean I will opt for the premade salads at work for lunch more so than a burger and fries or a tasty ruben) I noticed they days I have a salad I tend to maintain a decent level of energy during the rest of the afternoon versus stumbling out of work on days I don't. It's odd.. I catch myself driving home and thinking "damn.. I don't feel too bad today!". WTF.. does this mean salads and a bit of chicken in said greens is a good thing for me?

The second oddity is I hit the gym today (the 11ish hour day yesterday killed my desire to do much of anything besides watch Fringe back episodes)... and mounted that damn treadmill again. This time a bit faster pace... so my mile I power walked took about nineteen minutes.. now get this.. I get off it.. right myself from the treadmill-vertigo and feel good... not great but good. wtf on this shit as well. Damn extended cardio is *good* for me?!

So I have decided this year's new exercise is going to be that damn treadmill at the gym. A bit of apprehension when I got on.. a bit of confusion of what buttons to push.. but once I got going it wasn't too bad.. in fact after the first 1/10th of a mile I got over the initial hump and into a decent groove... I opted to power walk this one.. 22 minutes for a mile. Not a bad start.... it's has to being somewhere. The only issue would be when I got off it felt lie my body was still moving though I was standing still. Some sort of displacement dealio. It wore off after I got a drink of water and walked to Bubbie.

After I get my groove with this power walking it will be time to kick the pace up.

I saw a kid at the gym tonight that reminded me of myself fourish years back. I thought about stopping by and offering some encouraging words, but I thought other wise. I wonder if that was a good idea or not.

A bit of exercise update today..

At the gym the usual routine got bumped up in weight. Now the chest press is at three plates and a twenty five per side... The row, wide grip over hand lat pull down, and the close grip under hand lat pull down are at two-thirty. Sled's still at eleven plates, and the calf raises are maxed at three hundred (but I am getting more reps per set).

The taichi is a bit more difficult on the other hand. I have started to get the moves down for the first ten and damn is it confusing. I am going to have to sit down, go through each one, write down what's needed, and start to memorize it. I really wish this dvd had a function to play from one to 'N' where 'N' is the step I stopped at (and also repeat).

Das ist alles!

Lesser known fact I decided a few months ago to pick up tai-chi. There wasn't a definate reason why, but it was a good idea at the time. Let me tell you, even though I hit up the gym two times a week this "tai chi stuff" was a nifty work out on my joints, balance, and flexability. The fairly linear movements of hip sleds, lat machines, rows, and etc did not assist in the the twisting and circular movements of tai chi. After a bit I become a bit more accustom to it, and life is grand.

To get myself ready for the long solo form practice I have been re-plying the warm up, then the warm ups plus the three basic forms, and last night I moved on to: warm ups plus three basic forms plus circling.

w00t for me.. a few more days of getting the circling habit down I will start the tai chi quan solo form.. which has something like a hundred different moves.
