02/04: Realworld Brooklyn: Season Finale
I know I have been a bit lax on my Real World: Brooklyn (RW:B), but I was busy okay?
The ending was pretty much as awesome as I figured it would be. There were some pranks, some yelling, tears, hollow good byes, and one unexpected twist of integrity.
I shall deem this season "Bros before hoes".
This last episode of RW:B started with them packing up all their crap in boxes. Pretty route stuff. Then the awesomeness started flowing like wine.
Okay.. most of them went out for drinks at some bar. Fair enough. I am unsure what happened next but Ryan was talking to some guy that tried to jack him in the face. A take down occurs, a dog pile forms, and more fists are flying. Suddenly the camera is following the group outside (I guess they were the ones kicked out though not the ones who started it) and were all amped up. It was quaint to see little near-gay-boy Chet all stoked for tossing some guy off the dog pile.
Ryan then tried to organize a last dinner, but the Diva-bitch, Baya, and Chet ended up being late because they were looking for an apartment in New York. Yup - they aren't going home!
A bit of drama over Diva-bitch being really late, and they cut to the house. Scott (aka alpha male), Ryan, and Chet (the three amigos) were out on in the hot tub enjoying it while they have it. The four girls (three plus a poss if you are still iffy on Katelynn) plot some mega prank to get the guys back. It ends up being soap in the milk, crushed dog biscuits in their cereal, soap on the chicken, and soap pushed into their taped up boxes. Wow. Great one there ladies. Side note - JD did nothing the whole time.
The guys come back in knowing something is up. Ryan and Chet start eating cereal and notice something is funky. They are a bit peeved. JD has a dumbass grin on his face from the computer and the three Amigos start interrogating JD. For what seems like an hour later and some chats with the women enough becomes enough. The girls blame JD.. JD claims innocence... and then Ryan turns angry on JD. Suddenly he sees JD almost in tears and realizes the Amigos have been had by the bitch-pack. Ryan sincerely apologizes to JD about questioning his character, and then Ryan goes to yell at the girls.
The girls fail to see why it is a big deal that JD's character was questioned, and why a simple admittance of what they did would go a long way. JD gets involved and I swore he was going to break the glass table again. Funny - one shot had the center piece on it and a ten second cut away comes back to it missing.
Right then and there the whole season crystallizes: the girls will never understand the value on integrity that the guys understand. To them it's just a word. To the Amigos it is bro-code. The only one waffling on the whole thing was Baja, and hopefully that is because she wants to swing on Ryan's nuts.
The yelling ends, Baya misinterprets Ryan's anger as his only way of communicating his fear of going back to Iraq. Whoops.. wrong move there babe - do not question a man who has accepted his fate and willingness to stand up to his duty with regards to the Army. She got an ear full then apologized.
I am pretty sure she realized any chances of getting with Ryan were soured.
The rest of the show was tears for leaving, final words in the confessional, and shots of people departing.
Season recap:
Frankly I have to say I was a bit surprised about Scott's turn around in the show. I thought he was going to be some sleeper-dbag... nope. A good bro.
Ryan was about as I figured.
Chet was always Ryan's lackey. I was a bit disappointed to not have him come out in the show.
JD - who I knew would be trouble - wasn't as bad as I thought. He rolled both groups differently and was often on the fence for issues. Fair enough. You knew where you were with him so I can respect that.
Devyn - yup high maintenance trouble all the way. Thankfully the episodes of her flapping her jaw were far and few between.
Katelynn turned out to be an interesting person. After she was done dancing around what everyone else knew she made an effort to know everyone. Clearly she cut her line and chose the girls, but she seemed to finally be able to hang out with the Amigos and be fine.
Sarah - wow.. What a turn around for her. She is classic dog with a large bark but small bite.. Really she bitched and moans about everything. Her arguments were specious and rarely thought out for her derelict actions. You had potential!
Baya - damn if this quiet mouse didn't just skyrocket at the end! She is the only one that made an effort to bridge the guy/gal clique gap. She has mad potential.
On a side note I just read that Ryan broke up with Belle and is 'sorta seeing' Baya! Bam! Didn't see that coming!
