I had dinner at Pop's place tonight.. and was met with a very odd acting Pete.. disconcertingly so.. son of a bitch he better not be failing me now! He's only 9!

2013.12.22 (03:44): Well.. so that happened..

Who would have guessed leaving my joint at 4p I am back in at nearly 4a. A quick stop over at my buddy's, received a nice christmas gift of 'man soap' and season 1 and 2 of Tales from the Crypt... then off to the 'Box (early) to have a drink with Falloutboy (who I didn't know was in town).. then get talked to an hour and a half jaunt to the 20's where I was lavished with vanilla scented boobs, a private dance, and the back out (now in the snow) to the box to close down and get a christmas gift of mini kalulah bottles and an Archer pint glass.

Oh what a night.

2013.12.15 (23:10): Please let this be done..

FFS.. I cranked my twenty extra hours, and just emailed the last of the updates to the project out. For the love - let this be the last set of changes else it's 'back to asking for more money'.

I really hate this project.

2013.12.11 (01:36): Well that was nice..

It seems Ms. Margie decided to show up tonight at karaoke... unannounced and with much fan fare. It's nice seeing she's still alive and in town.

I hear others may be gathering..

2013.12.10 (15:19): FYI for me..

Total waste of a day. I rolled out of bed, watched the snowiest football game with the Lions at Philly, and then hit a stride of a Law and Order: SVU Nick Amaro marathon. Somehow the day slips by and it's eight PM and I need to shuffle out into the snow to get groceries and such from Target. Then it's back home, frozen pizza, and more L&W:SVU. Fuck.. no laundry.. no cleaning.. no coding.. no games.. just me, the couch, and my stories.

I am not saying I do these often, but when I do I feel bad for not accomplishing much that day except r&r on the brain while becoming more intensely paranoid and distrustful of humanity as it is played out in hour long segments. Maybe my brain needed the break, or my couch needed the companionship.. either way it has to be a sign of sickness, right? I mean that much Mariska Hargitay and Ice-T can't be good for you, can it?

2013.12.06 (11:21): Broke down..

After a morning filled with team members making less than veiled OSHA threats, the 60 degree room yesterday, and general threats of revolt for the cold interior I am breaking down and hitting a mexican joint for lunch. Yes.. yes.. I know it breaks tradition with legal lunch and Romeos, but it's been far too long and pizza just didn't sound like it was going to cut it today.

The question left is if it is -5 degree wind chill outside is it still appropriate to get a 27oz blended margarita?

2013.12.04 (15:56): Is this where it all ends?

... and so it begins. The line in the sand was just drawn. The decision from the higher ups to ratchet down the 'separation of duties' was kicked off this afternoon in a surprise fashion.

You know.. in case folks would have advanced warning and hide their malfeasance versus having a better process worked out for our releases to minimally impact our users.

As always I was leading the charge and I was the first to require two releases *AND* one of my app users is just now demanding an emergency release (NOW!).

Objectively it will be interesting to see if a tide of managers, users, directors, etc can rise up fast enough to quash this, or even if the high-higher ups will budge on their view.

As a person living this I know (I've been here before in other companies) this will be a grueling new process that will just make folks bitter, put a cramp in the entire company's reaction time, hurt team image, and we'll get all sorts of undeserved flack.

Next stop - SlowRelease-ville and disappointment.

After today I get to go home and fashion and email explaining how these changes to my side work is going to run somewhere along the 1k-1.25k range and the work handler won't like that response.. but what can I do when it's another 18ish hours of work that was not outlined in the original spec? The alternative is to fix the bugs, send the project, and get my cash.. hopefully it won't spook this guy into canceling the whole project. Fuck this project.
