2012.05.31 (14:25): Why Candlebox, what?!

Why must you open for Creed? Who gives an f'n shit?! I am unsure if I can justify a ticket cost when I'll be gone after you guys are done, and then turn around to do the same with Garbage a few days after!

Much anger I have!

Long time friend of the family, Vern (from the accounts I heard from Ken-boy) has resigned himself to a fairly planned demise. It seems a few weeks back he had a capillary or some blood flowing vessel burst in his sinus... it drained him of, and this is rumored, nearly five pints of blood... there was some activity to fuse shut the bleeding but any more would leave him blind in that eye. Vern - never one to take this lying down - said something to the kin of "funk that I've done and seen all that I care to" and now is making preparations to have Ken-boy the executor of his estate, ensure he is not interned next to his brother, and that Pops and I are pall bearers.

Wonderful.

Though I am unsure if I have ever imagined Vern moving on that didn't result from him refusing medical treatment.

I sat down about 7pm to crank out a proof of concept web app for my brother in law.. now, shockingly, it's 1am.. One page and a two column table turned into five pages and four columns.. three of those pages got rewrites as I found the newer, more efficient, php nuggets.. shit got streamlined.. and a working state diagram was put in place.

... and now I sleep to go to work and do THEIR coding. *sigh*

Anna's no longer in the bar-tending biz. That means no more drunken hanging out with her at her job.. because I hear they frown at that at her new boss career. Sad days.

2012.05.27 (17:05): Yawn.. easy peasy..

They weren't kidding how damn easy this was (compared to some cars that have it mounted under the passenger fender).

A screwdriver to remove the air intake cowl.. move that to the side.. move the filter to the side.. move the intake port to the side.. unsnap the electrical harness.. unsnap the line to the washer ports on the hood.. and then unsnap the pump from the plastic housing.. remove the gasket..

Install was the new gasket.. the pump snapped back into place.. fill the reservoir partially with fluid to check for leaks.. then the hose back on.. the electrical harness.. air intake port, the filter, and then the cowl.

Hell I barely worked up a sweat from the 95 degree heat!

Here's the old pump.. yeah that old girl was cracked in three places.. then again if the label's right it is an 03 part. Ha!

The joys of having a Trailblazer - parts are everywhere! I am thinking this might just be the seal but we'll see. $17.00 part - and some sweat on my end versus a hundo and time off of work for a shop. The only caveat is it's in a very tight spot. I'll see how this goes.

Round one commences in about thirty minutes. This marks the second thing I hand replaces, abet first moderate level component.

Monday - it was Lawyer's choice and we decided to head down to the Benson area... I smell him trying to nest here and fully expect to be pressured into flipping my apartment to one down there as a matter of convenience. I was not feeling the hottest, but made a go at it. Dinner was.. meh.. okay. The fried pig ears where good, but the textured ear jello-ten and some of the spices were not helping my constitution. I soldiered on and began to layer on various beers hoping that might tamper down the rumbling.. though this might just have been a panic attack brought on by my car dropping all the windshield wiper fluid..
while sitting in park..
in a drive way..
and being left to sit for half an hour..
coupled with my lack of sleep from the previous night... so no.. it wasn't the location or company just a confluence other things that made me seem surly (let's go with surlier than usual) and pensive.

More after the jump..

Minor security lock down at work... I need to turn up my bouncer-awareness this week.

On the plus side I have my 'one year anniversary' pen awarded to me. Go Quill pens!

When the night was planned on getting some wings, two beers, and a captain and coke.. and somehow that spiraled out of control to you being semi lit grocery shopping at 11.30pm on a Sunday night, having a conversation with the night stocking guys about the use of tazers, and STILL you are the soberest customer in the store.. wow.. just.. wow.

Side note - I forgot my Trappy's Red Devil and peanut butter... both not used for the same dish. Fuuuuuuuuuuuudge.

What? what was that? Something called 'flauta control' at bomb digs? Hmm.. yes! What's on it you ask? Hell if I know.. it was two fried flour shells covering innards of Mexican cream cheese and chicken ... the outer bits were covered in red chili sauce and something that was greenish and crazy good.

(not my picture)

2012.05.10 (10:58): Old lady saga..

If anyone is concerned - no.. the old lady next door is alive. I had visual contact with the lady as her.. daughter and her daughter's kids were helping her out of the car and into the apartment.

Of course this doesn't discount a "Weekend at Bernie's" hijinks, but only time will tell for that.

2012.05.08 (19:02): This is disconcerting ..

I was masticating with an overly small grapefruit when I got a knock on my door.. I cautiously get up and peer through hole and see a guy on the phone near the stairs.. Figuring what the hell I pop open the door and ask him "what's up?". It seems he is the son of the old lady next to me and she isn't responding to him knocking, her car hasn't moved in a few days, and her doctor's office said she missed a few appointments.. oh and the key he has doesn't work. Well fuck. I get the number to the night security/emergency guy and thankfully he answered. He should be on his way to opening the door to see if the old lady is there and kicking. Hmm... this might get three ways of creepy in an hour.

2012.05.08 (14:10): Banning swaths of the internet..

It seems the spammers are overly fixated on one of my posts... this one to be exact. Sweet potatoes they keep hammering that one with comment spam like it is the last blog post in the world to rape. As it is I am having fun now banning whole octets of addresses from.. shocker.. India. At this rate I might just see about what I need to do to ban that entire continent. Sorry and legit Indian readers, but your spammers are killing me.

After another night inundated with mock crazed ramblings from my Lawyer about this new fascination/obsession/desire with Lights Poxleitner it is only fitting that my totally non-alcohol fueled dreams included her to a back splash of torrential rain. I am moderately concerned that my first sit down listen to Lights on Jane v2, the new zunehd, might cause some sort of mental meme-worm to borrow into my brain and firmly lodge there causing me to go bat shit crazy like the rest of Lights' fans. Seriously - most of those people are f'n crazy. They need to be bagged, tagged, and put under surveillance.

As it was a chunk of my dream incorporated me back in high school (it's been a recent reoccurring theme for some reason).. but the setting also was classic small town Italian alley/winding street as well. Location not withstanding my Lawyer and I were at a bar.. a familiar bar if it was off a loading dock near a dirt road in between white washed multistory Italian village homes. Lights shows up and grabs a drink next to my Lawyer.. they jabber for some time, I drift off, and then I notice Lights leaving. She sticks my Lawyer with a hundred dollar tab who is simultaneously angry and elated. As Lights jogs down the bend towards the ocean bay a large pack of her crazed fans, dressed in hob goblin and hipster wear, stamped down after her. I watch the rabble move for a long time and laugh as my Lawyer attempts to explain to his wife why his bar tab will be quite high and that it's okay.

Serious.. what.. the .. fuck.

My only understanding is a night of my Lawyer and his wife yammering about this young Cyndi Lauper-meets-Miranda Cosgrove-meets-rainbows-and-puppy-dogs Lights broad does a number on my brain pan. The storm probably didn’t help.

2012.05.02 (16:46): Tones of Cleveland..

Man.. these humid and mid sixty degree mornings smack a whole lot of Cleveland weather! Geeze!

In retrospect I found the 'Lights' concert rather amusing and quaint. Her fans seem quite rabid but super in sync with her. That's cool.. the act itself was.. intriguing. A perpetual shoulder pop/shrug by Lights.. a theremin... better than expected guitar rifts, and overall a very happy-peppy mood. That being said quite a few songs started to blend together for me, but not in a bad way. Kudos for my Lawyer and his wife for convincing me to go down there... (a bet as their cap and coat wearing chauffeur). Then having a few drinks at the Jakes (god am I becoming a near regular there? Gotta stop.. gotta stop!) worked for a great evening.
