Apartment across the way, to the left of my back door, third floor. I guess they got evicted and since last Wednesday a ton of their shit is out on the back deck and out in the front of their door. A few rain storms later and I am taking a lap on my back porch trying to figure out where I need to edit my blog's php to get a call back link to the original post and I see two ladies rooting through the sodden refuse left. Odd I thought - they look mildly suspicious holding up things from inside boxes as if it were the first time. They dig through more stuff - shiftily looking around for watchers. Then they scurry off out of view towards the front of that building. Mkay... odd... oh wait.. what's that I see? The arm and black strap of one of the two flapping her arm to opening the locks on the door below her.. presumably her apartment. Yes folks I just watched two women root through some one else's evicted and left behind shit on this lovely Tuesday evening. Rock on USA rock on.

2011.05.14 (17:48): Art archival..

Fun story - it's a pain in the ass to archive artwork. Serially. F'n local Dick Blick refused to stock the size I needed for an archival box and their only suggestions for the paints were to "keep them upright in a cool climate controlled area with this magical archival tissue paper on them". Ah.. what? Lady first off these will be in my closet. Semi climate controlled for sure light controlled. Second tissue paper? Are you kidding me? Sure I might as well start punching through the fucking canvas now with my fists of fury. Or furry. Depends if I am exercising my right to bear arms.

As it is I traipsed off to my local big box hardware store and thought I could find some nice plastic foam matting. Nope.. my choices were death green cling wrap in a roll a mile long or death green pustule bubble wrap about thirty five feet long. Fair enough. Sold. How disappointing. the new plan is to tape this magical unicorn paper on the front of each frame and then wrap securely in bubble wrap with liberal amounts of duct tape. As for the unframed purchased a nice archival box from dickblick's online store that should do the trick. Of course their six dollar minimum shipping said two to three fucking weeks. Ugh. Really? Fine .. gouge me for the nine dollar shipping so it gets here next week... like every other normal minimum shipping would take. Even Amazon failed me in finding a cheaper and faster option. Ugh.

On other news I might be doing side work for a local plumbers union. Not the cool Ben-10 kind but the local pipe layers and cleaners. More to come on that.

2011.05.09 (11:08): Atrocious video...

In our weekly meeting I was subjected to some video from our Marketing group. "M'kay", I thought to myself, "this should be good. They are paid well and are some sort of ad-wizards, right?". Wow. Wrong. Oh so f'n wrong. It started off with a star-field. On par with the Windows 3.1's screen saver. There was no title and it started blaring music and stats in a bland Arial font. US population, income, cost of bread, yada yada yada.

Oh goodie, I say, a history of the company. This could prove interesting.

There was maybe three minutes of the history of the company in the entire thirty minute video. The rest was decades of random crap. Random images, movies clips, music (that wasn't even corrected to have the same volume from song to song), tv clips, commercials, and so forth. At the end they did a Starwars scroll of disjointed words. WTF? SARS right next to 'Web 2.0'?!
I could almost understand if there was a common thread. Best movie or song of the decade, but no. Hell they three in the entire 'Ferris Bueller' "float scene". No tie in to how the company evolved to the market, the change of tactics, and tech. Hell - not even a funny "dress code changes" over the years. It looked like someone's high school freshman kid slapped this together for a US history class.

I am certain marketing sat around with scraps of paper and said "write down the first three thoughts that come to your head on this decade" and proceeded to work through the bucket. Also - what the hell is up with the 2000's being nothing but a Black Eyed Peas song and solely images of 9/11, Katrina, flooding, fires, soldiers in the desert. There wasn't anything else! The 2000's are just the end of days. Oh, and I enjoyed how it was split up by decades except for the 2000's. You know - might as well lump aught-ten with the horrors of regular double-aught.

Over all I would give this a d-. Clearly Marketing desired to use what ever iPoop video editing software for their new-ish iMacs, but underwhelming is the bottom line. Cheesy Powerpoint transition effects, zero cohesive threads or story line, and it took the Bossman to explain it had to do with something about evolution over time and the company. I hope Marketing only spent about twenty minutes on this, but I know it was probably two financial quarters.

If you make a video make it coherent! Have a theme! Be important! If you plan on repeating information to make a comparison make sure the shit lines up!

Thank god comments and opinions were not asked of afterwards.

2011.05.04 (15:38): Stupid f'n shoes

A quick run down of shoes I saw that peeked my interest and why...

Impulse by Steeple Gate Men's Titanlow Lowtop
http://www.amazon.com/Impulse-Steeple-P50932-Sneaker-Brown/dp/B002VA50OI/ref=sr_1_424?s=shoes&ie=UTF8&qid=1304538476&sr=1-424

A super shiney Steve Madden.. sort of.

Men's ImpulseŽ Instep Strap Oxfords
http://www.amazon.com/Impulse-Instep-Strap-Oxfords-BROWN/dp/B004VSQGWI/ref=sr_1_1?s=shoes&ie=UTF8&qid=1304538858&sr=1-1

A bad ass shoe I would buy - if the bastard came in a larger size.

Nike Air Force 1 Low Premium (DJ Clark Kent Edition)
http://www.amazon.com/Nike-Force-Premium-Clark-Kent/dp/B003KIE9ZQ/ref=sr_1_345?s=shoes&ie=UTF8&qid=1304538180&sr=1-345

The lure to buy a pair of Nikes (first pair since what - eigth grade?) is hard. Must resist pull of semi ugly colorings.. mustard, red, and brown!

Belvedere Men's Fiore Shoes
http://www.amazon.com/Belvedere-Mens-Fiore-Shoes-Crocodile/dp/B0044MH4Z4/ref=sr_1_2?s=shoes&ie=UTF8&qid=1304538216&sr=1-2

Interesting - similar to Impulse (above) but with a gator skin texture. Pimp chic.

Creative Recreation Men's Cesario Lo Sneaker
http://www.amazon.com/Creative-Recreation-Cesario-Sneaker-Avocado/dp/B0041G1Y2M/ref=sr_1_28?s=shoes&ie=UTF8&qid=1304537764&sr=1-28

I woudl totally jump on these but they run a bit small. I am tired of shoes like that. Chuck Taylors I am looking at you.

Man.. the best shoe I am seeing is a used Recon1 by Steve Madden. I might have to pull the trigger on that one.

I was eating a nice Nestle Drumstick when I read the news. That shit hit the floor as I jumped to verify the news. After so many resources, time, lives, and energy was spent we killed the bastard in a fire fight. Fuck you Osama Bin Laden. I hope you rot in hell.

Now the question is how will Southpark respond, and what will happen to the body?

Edit: I shed some tears when Obama was on the stage. In the middle of the 'Box... alternating between rum and gin, and the enormity hit me. Fucking a.
