Okay.. here's the dilemma.

I get home turn on my pc and all I hear is: click-click *pause* click-click *pause* for a total of eight sets.

My video card's fan sounds like it is reving up and down a few times... no video. 9800 gt 512 pny card.

I am dual booting windows 7 64bit and xp pro 32bit. Windows 7 is on my 500gb sata blue caviar... the XP resides on the old IDE hard drive.

I pulled the card and used the onboard video.. sure.. that works. The click-click does not stop.

When I get to my dual boot and go to windows 7 it gives me an i/o error 0xc0000e9 "unexpected i/o error". Googling that did a bit, but not much.

I keep the videocard pulled and try the older pcie card I had in... no go on the output. Last time I used the card it worked.

Then pull the SATA drive... the click-click stops. I slam that as a slave and windows xp has issues recognizing it... it sees it.. and when I check the hard drive status with CrystalDiskInfo10 it first says it's bad.. then good. I run the tester from WD and it says it's good. Mind you my two PATA drives are fine.

I rebooted to check some bios stuff... tried to start up winxp and it flashed a blue screen and rebooted. I pulled the SATA out and it worked fine. I then threw it into the third sata connection and it booted up windows, but now crystaldisk and the WD program say there are errors.

Okay.. so clearly shit went to hell somewhere. I had problems a year or so ago with the 1&2 RAM slots posting bad.. so I moved my ram to 3/4 and didn't have a problem.

Does this sound like a motherboard going tits up on me?
If the SATA fails would that take down the videocard as well - or vice versa?
DId I just get lucky enough to have a videocard *and* hard drive failure?

If it was just the videocard the older one should have worked. My guess is the slot's dead. As is the SATA ones..

Does that sound about accurate? A cursory search tells me 2 PATA connectors (4 or more max drives), DDR2, AM2 motherboard combos are a bit hard to find. I might have to bite the bullet and go new motherboard, chip, and ram... hopefully not drive and videocard.

.... and a new motherboard and sata dvd burner is on the way.. only 89 bones.

2010.06.24 (10:36): Stupid sleep..

Really? This is getting old. This whole overly active dreaming is making me on par or more tired than when I went to bed.

Let's see.. last night was another zombie one... Running around rural areas and my old high school. The lesson taken away was in a zombie uprising... having one person with you is fine (quiet, quick on the move, etc), but collecting more people and banding together produces a slower moving herd and emotional attachments. One of those bastards in your group will kick a paint can, slam a door, or do something that will alert the zombie horde who will track your scent and hound you until you die or their legs grind down to nubs.

Maybe some sort of medication or ramped up drug abuse will give me a few nights of rest.

2010.06.23 (10:35): I stand corrected..

It seems the reason I don't own 'Beautiful Garbage' by Garbage is because it's not good.

Funny quote I sent via email yesterday to someone:

"Well there it is... I was looking into a new bad called "Band of Skulls".. they have a catchy song I heard off the radio ('Light of the Morning") and it cropped up in a Mustang commercial. After poking around on Amazon it turns out this band is featured on the 'New Moon' sound track... now 'Band of Skulls' purchase probability dropped from 70% to about 15%. Thanks Twilight."

2010.06.22 (16:40): Now I feel bad..

It seems around 2001 Garbage, the band, came out with a CD called 'Beautiful Garbage'.... How the hell did I miss that? Since I am at work and can't sample it from the ol' amazon I must sit here and stew in my annoyed-edness.

Seriously did I black out in 2001? I have the other three but missed this one? There better be a damn good reason.

* 1995: Garbage
* 1998: Version 2.0
* 2001: Beautiful Garbage
* 2005: Bleed Like Me

Indeed all of those negative are solved with two words: policy debate.

See, as a young pup I grew up doing hard earned research at UNO on the blessed-be program called Lexis-Nexis. I wrote cases for juvie-courts, renewable energy, russia, and china. Oh woe were the paper cuts.

I lugged around hug tubs of evidence to smash and beat my opponents arguments thus ensuring they were aware my research-enis was mightier than theirs. “Ha! Thought you knew all there was regarding inter-state compacts? Well you lose since my evidence is better qualified, more precise, and was published two hours ago!”. That’s about as much fun as doing the Karate Kid crane kick over and over and over again; without getting in trouble!

Yeah.. I was totally that kid…. a winner.

How does one motivate the kids to do the research? Easy – don’t accept websites, thrash children for citing wikipedia, and give them giant gavels for being the best speaker.

2010.06.16 (14:14): Keep that pimp hand strong..

I swear to the soda on my desk BJ will be getting the pimp hand. Nine hours attempting to hunt down this f'n error introduced in merged code and his only response is to shrug and point a finger at one monitor to signify that change was right (or so I hope).

I want to hurl paper bags of vomit at him for wasting my time. Ugh.

In other news it appears my toe is most definitely *not* broken. So the gym here I come tonight!

I am also now the lead.. ah.. admin for the skyybox's facebook account. I was a bit concerned I may have over stepped my customer/business relationship by making the page in a drunken fit. Now if I can turn it over..er.. share admin access with an owner or child of the owner the expectation of peppering peoples news alerts with lures to drink can be off my shoulders. Until then I'll see what I can do.

Hell I might go buy up some domain names... "theskyybox.com" is up for grabs. so is "skyyboxomaha.com". I wonder if I can split my domain here and use the space for another site? I think I can.. it would be a small investment.

Wait.. why the hell am I doing that again? Don't I have enough work I don't get paid enough to do let alone asserting myself elsewhere? ir dumb... I think.

I really do think I broke my toe.. or severely fractured the bastard. It's feeling a bit on the swelly side in my shoe today. I wonder if I take them off will I be able to get it back on?

I wonder if it will die and fall off.. so I only have nine toes?

Side note - gin and tonics were too damn good last night. New summer drink of choice?

2010.06.09 (15:53): Achievement!

Legal Lunch was grand.. except I smelled like Romeos afterward. Bleh.

The conversation was fairly amusing (as usual), and I was even asked about my job. I believe I had an audience for about fifteen seconds - a new best! Achievement unlocked! I kid.. I kid.. (but you can't take my achievement away!).

Work's been fairly quiet today. I have been attempting to solve some fairly nuanced problems. Patch three dance party will occur tomorrow night, and Q1's on freeze as well tomorrow.

Tonight was a nice night of Mexican at pop's and then a case of millar light and bomb pops at the going away part for Margie. It was painfully sad... the party was something mom and dad would throw... I was immediately welcomes... loved for the bomb pops... and made welcomed as if I am someone who has been there a hundred times before..

The night wore on and people were picked off and went home... tears around, but I remained. Eventually people were going to bed and I was walked out... no tears except a few on my end... and about three hugs good bye and that was that. A mild promise of return and this 'was not permanent'... but i know better. I thought I had a while to ingratiate myself but alas that time has come and gone. Lord knows what ever I know or value is not reciprocated on the other end. Alas I said good bye.. shuffled off to my car.. and wonder if I made a major error in my life.

I shall have to reinvest my efforts into making myself presentable and what not for the next time she's in town... if she is ever back to Salem's Lot.

(I realized I used welcome too many times.... too hammered to care to fix).

2010.06.06 (13:57): Good lord.. what did I do?

Saturday was a fairly jacked up day... overly hot.. overly humid.. and I had to hang at the sprint store... again... to get my phone fixed. That's about five visits in the last three months. Four new phones now.

Regardless I sweated my ass over to my buddy's place and hung out there in the heat and humidity with his mom, her sister, and my buddy's girlfriend's kid. That was dandy but damn it it was seven pm and I hadn't gotten my list of things done that day.

So I was totally going to the store. I need groceries.

As I am heading homeward Bossman texts me about his newly minted single status and wanting to 'tear it up tonight'. Through a series of bungled texts, jacked up time frames, and me dozing off nothing materializes. So I head up to the 'box to get something to eat... assist in cleaning up an overflown toilet... attempt to lure Bossman out to the 'box with the promise of a paid bar tab and a ride home... and that ends up in fail. He ended up his evening sitting at home because the rest of the world was lame and just started cooking rice. *sigh* What ev.

Last call comes and Paul the Cook advocated he wanted to head to the Playhouse because *his* girlfriend broke up with him that day. Through a sheer quantity of booze and grogginess I accept and off we go.

An hour and forty-five minutes we were there... and I spent a hundred and twenty five dollars. The playhouse has changed quite a bit... one giant connected stage across the whole place... about seven or eight poles...

So a fucked up day in terms of syncing up with folks, expensive evening, and I still got jack done today being that I got home at 4.30am.

Damn it all.. I would damn near shank someone for this yankees hat style. The light blue on navy especially. I mean damn it all? Why do the damn hats have to stop at size 8? Make it a bit bigger and 8 1/4 or 8 1/2?!!?

Yankees OLD ENGLISH SOUTHPAW - light blue on navy

Yankees OLD ENGLISH SOUTHPAW - red/silver on navy

Hats

- minor edit -
I stopped biding on *my* cintiq mentioned yesterday at $200. I would almost swear it's the seller jacking up the price.

I just threw a $50.00 bid (and I am the current highest) on a slightly used Cintiq 12WX. This is usually $1,000 NIB. I know that it has 2 days and 22 hours left and I will surely be sniped, but damn... if I got my paws on a Cintiq 12WX that would be major e-boner!

2010.06.03 (08:42): Of two things..

One - I am in a fairly positive and upbeat mood today considering the quantity of rum and vodka I consumed in two hours. Let's hope this carries us through the day.

Two - I really, really need to stop writing facebook status updates before bed and after drinking. They are getting excessively wordy and abstract. Perhaps I should bundle them together and turn them into a self-help book?
