2009.01.30 (10:56): A few things to update
Let's rewind a bit of time here and see what was new in the last few days.
2009.01.28 (00:11): Lean on me..
I was bumming through Scrub-way for dinner tonight when the Bill Withers' "Lean on Me" came over the radio. I caught myself with a big ass smile on my face and was tapping my foot. A quick survey of the three people behind the counter came up with all of them having a smile or grin on their face with out even knowing it. (One was making my sandwich, one was staring out the window, and the other at the register was waiting for the sandwich guy to be done with my sub).
I was pondering this down the road, but I fail to believe when people hear that song it does not invoke some sort of emotional response of either happiness or fondness for another place and time.
I just wanted to point out some goodness when I see it.

2009.01.26 (20:17): Oh Bubbie...
About 5.10pm today you may have noticed something if you were in west bound traffic - 20 feet east of 68th and Dodge... a whiteish minivan in the left most lane jams on their brakes forcing me to jam on mine. Accident avoided. I look in the rear view mirror to notice the red tahoe straddling the line moving from the left lane to center lane.... and I watch it hit the back right end of Bubbie. o noes!!11! I cried! A quick turn into 68th and Dodge's neighborhood I see that Bubbie's metal bumper is crumpled in but everything else is fine. The Tahoe sustained a broken fog light. Fuck.
Gotta hate winter.
Gotta hate winter.
2009.01.23 (15:33): A more busy day than I anticipated...
It was going to be a slow day but not so much. I am trying to implement this damn subtotal change, but the current example is showing screwed up data. Jefe, who probably wrote the damn thing, isn't around to answer my questions. so i sent her a large ass email with two 7 mb bitmaps and drawings in fucia to get her attention.
Last night was fun... I was hopped up on pan seared steak and steamed vegitables.. wandered off to the gym for a weight bump day.. got home.. showered.. hunted down Miss Margie at The Island on 123th and Giles.. was there for an obscene amount of time catching up.. then scooted off to get Juan Carlos home (because I am a nice guy like that)... berrated him for not watching the last episode of the Real World.. and then went home to shell out.
Tonight is going to be either a walk about or exercise in passing out. I am 50/50 on the topic.
Tomorrow is blood donating butt early in the morning.. pc repair for my hair stylist (and family).. and then who knows what else.
I am also mulling over getting two 8x10 glossy photos of President B-Rock to put in picture frames.. one for my apartment and one for my wall at work. Hmm....

2009.01.22 (13:19): Realworld: Brooklyn update
Cars, water, skyline
I must confess - I missed the first four minutes due to catching up on the Fringe episode from last night. I am certain that while those four minutes set the tone for tonight they were far from needed.

2009.01.21 (15:30): The day rolls on..
I am not sure if it is my illness crumbling to dust, the nice weather outside, or the fact I am currently in a "slow period" but this day just won't go any faster. I think i want to run around like a savage in the sun and fun, but can't that makes time tick by in an infuriating way.
2009.01.20 (16:39): Boom baby..
A few things of note.
Chaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaange happened today 12pm EST. Yes indeed - Obama is president, Fox News was blundering for things to say, and not an incident to report.
Training on CBstarted today. Nothing to report, but a mildly snippy DK and no Jefe. (Jefe's down at the training to take the "abuse" for it going wrong).
My illness is slowly fading. Today was substantially better than yesterday.. yesterday was a holding pattern from Sunday. So far my skin is still the normal pale and not yellow (indicating jaundice from any liver failure of my adult beverage habits and day/nightquil), there have been no liver pangs, or anything else to indicate organ failure. Yeppie.
It's time to blow this joint.

2009.01.19 (10:45): Not dead yet..
Though Saturday I was certain I was going to lose physical cohesion and melt into a pile of snot and goo. Thankfully that has not happened.... *yet*.
On the plus side one more day until 'chaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaange' happens. Viva la BRock.
Minor work drama..
DK is back from his training (which actually was a vacation) and has a disapproving look on how Jefe handled things. I got the ol' stink eye for having this stupid versioning issue fixed... thankfully my excuse about not having time since last Tuesday placated him. Mind you Jefe is DK's manager.

2009.01.16 (16:41): Realworld Brooklyn update..
Bird, waves, statue of liberty.
The episode was fairly mundane, and but started to uncover the serious stability issues folks have.

2009.01.16 (09:53): Bleh.. why am I here?
I was feeling a bit on the craptastic side yesterday and chalked it up to the weather being -20 (f) wind chill... then this morning I wake up feeling worse.. but I drug my ass out of bed, grabbed my 'day-quil', and shuffled off to work. I am unsure if I am giong to last the day here. I hate this project I am working on. Jefe is finding all sorts of strange things wrong with it and I have to continually interject "I had no idea it was doing this.. the merc just gave me the control said 'here is how you interface with it', and then left the company". Blah. Training starts in a few days too. How suckie.
2009.01.14 (13:17): Wintereenmas!
It's almost here! What was that Mary? You have not been engaging in Wintereenmas activities? Here's a website to fill you in.
http://www.wintereenmas.com/
In short... the last weekend of January constitutes WinterEenmas proper.. while the whole month of January is the wintereenmas season. Essentially it's a holiday for gamers.. videogames.. console games.. solitare... d&d. Now some of you obsess over a single game with a Mafia tinge. That is fine and well. Play away.. but this is also the season to step outside your realm and dauble in something else. Bejeweled is a good start. Doom3 or halo is also a good place to get into the fun.
Me? I am not sure what I am going to do. I am in the middle of NeverwinterNights 2 (well okay.. near the start). I'll probably play that. I might boot up Warcraft 3 for kicks.. Dawn of War? Perhaps. I am thinking though Doom3 has been calling my name. I will probably roll to WurstBuy and get Bioshock. I hear that was fun last year. It is highly possible I will dust off the old Nintendo and rock out a few games on that. Perhaps get past that dbag spot on Final Fantasy 7 on the PS1. So many choices.

2009.01.13 (11:35): Brrrrrr! It's a coldone...
It's preposterously cold outside. Bubbie was not liking the start up nor the drive to work. Hopefully they day is sunny and she soaks up the rays.
Last night was quite odd.. Anna (new character to the blog?) was giddy-go-lucky, but was viciously opposed to watching 'The Shining'. I was crowing that it was the best movie to watch during white out and wintery conditions... she was having none of it. After doing some of the books she walks over to the only other people in the bar: Skyybox-crazy-deb (SCD) and her husband. SCD's back story is long, but suffice to say she has been known to talk to her self, has a handfull of master degrees, and doesn't like my flippant attitude when she strikes up a conversation about what ever. A nice lady actually - just a bit off axis.

2009.01.12 (16:02): Holy moley!
It's a freaking white out blizzard outside! Paul came over to get some work done and was bitching about the slush.. a bit of time goes by and I glance out the window to see 30 mile an hour gusts of blowing snow! Snap!
This is giong ot make getting home suckie.

2009.01.10 (17:22): Windows 7... w0w..
Wow.. just wow.... It's slick.. runs great.. I totally heart W7.. I think I will fore go XP for a few days.. this second hard drive's windows is amazing... I almost cried.
2009.01.08 (09:59): It's here.. it's here.. it's here!
The legit public beta for windows 7 is here.. well technically it's open tomorrow, but thanks to my work msdn subscription I am going to start downloading it tonight! w00t! Now I just need a dvd burner and a blank dvd...
I'm about as giddy as a school girl. ha!

2009.01.07 (23:05): Real world: Brooklyn
Jesus freaking tits... Really? Screw you MTV! *gasping breath* Okay.. let me recap.. MTV's Real World: Brooklyn (RW:B) had it's premier tonight. For what ever reason I opted to watch. I haven't seen an episode of the Real World since Key West.
2009.01.07 (21:14): Stoke-age!
I just ordered a new processor! yeppie! let's milk this AM2 vein for its worth! I am going from a 3800x2 windsor to a pretty 6000x2 with the pretty 65nm printing tech. Yeah, yeah, I should be going quad core instead of continuing with dual, but really - do I need that much power being sucked down the drain? Naw... not mention the E8500 wolfdays from intel would require double the cost of the chip and a new motherboard! boooooo!
Shit! The new Real World season is on in six minutes! Real world: brooklyn! w00t w00t!

2009.01.07 (10:18): Yaaaaaaaawn..
I spent two hours last night picking a part the code for my admin section to determin how to link a comment in the comment list back to the original parent post. I found a nice tutorial built for this blog software - about twenty versions out of date. Arg.
Hour one was dedicated to trying to force the tutorial to fit.. hour two was me cranking out a database statement and fabricating HTML via PHP. Nice. Not quite as elegant as I wanted, but hell it will do.
w00t for me.

2009.01.06 (11:17): Addiction - is it ever over?
A bit of background here.. Two christmases ago.. (2007) my middle sister buys me Lacoste: Por Homme. Great stuff. My goto cologne when Nautica just isn't cutting it. Fast forward to this christmas - she buys me Lacoste Red. This is some serious pimp shit folks. I had to go online to see what exactly it was distilled from and I was suprised. Stellar scent.
Come read my Marco Polo-esque adventures for new smells.

2009.01.01 (04:49): New years in a recap...
My initial plan for new years was to answer emails, nap, meet up with folks, and get drunk.... this worked to a degree, but not the way it was planned. My nap was disturbed by Magic calling about the karaoke.. (sorry I didn't sound like I knew what was going on ... I was a napping!) and it went down hill from there. I watched the ball drop on New York at 11pm CST and started to wonder about the rest of the plans for new years. I made an executive decision to throw pants on and head to the 'Box. All was well with my $35 dollar tab in one hour. I was next to the precious “Cj's sister” and Tad with his iPhone.
